Sample in free fall

IMPACT DROP TESTER FOR PACKAGING

Sample weight max. 5 kg

You can test packaging of varying shapes and sizes for impact stress after free fall using IPT’s drop testers. The packaging can be tested with its content and may consist of cans, barrels and boxes. The holding device on the platform holds the sample in various drop positions. As the platform swings away faster than the sample’s rate of acceleration, the sample’s alignment does not change. This means that it hits the floor at the previously set position.

Features and Functionality

The lifting device here is manually moved vertically by a chain drive and chain wheels using a crank. The lifting device can be fixed exactly in place at the desired drop height using a lever in combination with a clamping device on the crank axle.

The spring-loaded platform on the lifting device that holds the sample is released by a cable pull once the release lever is actuated and then folds down vertically.

A catch tray with an integrated, horizontal impact surface is attached at the impact point of the sample (an inclined impact surface is also included in the scope of delivery).

A tape measure around the profile post provides the respective lifting and drop height. The zero on the scale of the tape measure is the impact point.

Here, the low loading sill also provides for easy loading of the platform.

The sample placed on the vertically moving platform is brought to the desired drop height by turning the crank and it is secured there with the help of a locking mechanism. Activating the release lever causes the platform to fold down and so causes the sample to enter free fall.
